IFETEL

1. Certification Overview

IFETEL stands for Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones, Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute, which manages testing and type approval for imported telecommunications equipment. Products that transmit or receive signals using radio frequencies, and communications products connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) or public networks, require IFETEL certification.

3. Product Scope

All communications equipment entering Mexico, including products with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, satellite and mobile cellular RF functions.

5. Sample Requirements

One standard sample and two RF test samples.

6. Certification Process

1. Submit documents and samples.
2. After successful pretesting, send samples to Mexico for local testing.
3. Issue the test report after successful sample testing.
4. The certification body reviews the report and issues the IFETEL certificate.

7. Certification Timeline & Validity

Certificate valid indefinitely

8. Mark Usage Guidelines

Consumer electronics must meet the product marking requirements in IFETEL technical rules. Products must display the approval number, brand and model. If marking the product is not possible, this information must appear on the packaging, instructions or label.
The approval number generally follows the format IFETEL: XXXXXXXXX-XXXX.
