China NCC — Detailed Introduction

1. Certification Overview

NCC stands for the National Communications Commission in Taiwan. It primarily regulates communications and information equipment sold and used in the Taiwan market:
1. LPE: Low Power Equipment, such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices;
2. TTE: Telecommunications Terminal Equipment, such as mobile phones and tablets.

3. Product Scope

1. Low-power RF equipment operating from 9 kHz to 300 GHz, such as WLAN products (including IEEE 802.11a/b/g), UNII devices, Bluetooth products, RFID, ZigBee, wireless keyboards, wireless mice, wireless headsets and microphones, two-way radios, radio-controlled toys, remote controls and wireless anti-theft devices.
2. Public switched telephone network (PSTN) equipment, such as wired telephones (including VoIP phones), automatic alarm equipment, answering machines, fax machines, remote control devices, cordless telephone base stations and handsets, key telephone systems, data equipment (including ADSL), caller ID terminals and 2.4 GHz RF telecommunications terminals.
3. Public land mobile network (PLMN) equipment, such as mobile wireless broadband access stations (WiMAX terminals), GSM 900/DCS 1800 mobile phones and terminals (2G), and third-generation mobile communications terminals (3G).

4. Sample Requirements

1. Two fixed-frequency RF samples and one normally functioning sample.
2. Fixed-frequency samples are required for multichannel products. For a single-channel product, provide a sample capable of continuous transmission.

6. Test Items

1. RF testing;

2. Occupied bandwidth testing;

3. Output power and power density;

4. In-band spurious emissions testing;

5. Radiated spurious emissions testing and related tests

7. Required Documents

1. Instructions for use
2. Bill of materials (BOM)
3. PCB routing diagram
4. Block Diagram
5. PCB component placement diagram
6. Circuit schematics
7. Wireless module and antenna specifications
8. Fixed-frequency operating instructions
9. Product label
10. Overseas applications require the manufacturer to hold the certificate; local certificate holders must provide an RF use certificate

8. Certification Process

1. Conduct preliminary testing after receiving samples, and prepare the above documentation during testing.
2. After testing, arrange shipment of samples to Taiwan for testing.
3. The report and certificate are then issued in Taiwan.

9. Certification Timeline & Validity

The certificate has no fixed expiry. NCC certification takes approximately 5–6 weeks.
