The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) manages communications equipment type approval. Relevant radio and telecommunications equipment must meet applicable national and international technical standards and obtain approval before import, sale, distribution or use in Uganda. Applications are submitted through the prescribed online channel with specifications, test reports and related documents for UCC review.

Under Uganda National Bureau of Standards Act 327 and customs inspection regulations, Uganda's Ministry of Trade and Tourism implements pre-export conformity assessment in the country of origin for products imported into Uganda. The program aims to reduce the inflow of noncompliant products.
